How to Check Your Voicemail on an Android Phone
The easiest way to check your voicemail inbox is to call your voicemail from your own phone. Here’s how to do it using different methods and providers.
To call voicemail on Android, open the Phone app and press and hold the “1” key. It may have a voicemail icon on it, but it should work even if you don’t see that voicemail icon.
While we have instructions here for popular US mobile carriers with additional tips, it’s the most important thing you need to know.
If you’re at AT&T, start your phone’s Phone app, then tap and hold
1 . This will call your voicemail system.
Once connected, enter your voicemail password and hear your unheard voicemails. Stored voicemails can be accessed by pressing
1 on the keyboard.
Want to see your messages on your screen instead? Use visual voicemail. You can download the official one AT&T visual voicemail app on your android phone.
Access your Verizon voicemails
If you are a Verizon subscriber, you can access your voicemails by launching the Phone app and calling either
*86 or press and hold
When connected to the system, enter your voicemail password. You can now listen to your available voice messages.
Optionally, you can access your Visual Voicemail using the Voicemail app in your phone’s app drawer.
T-Mobile offers you two ways to access your voicemails.
The first way is to open and hold your Phone app
1 to connect to your voicemail system. Then enter your password.
The second way is to call this voicemail number:
1-805-637-7249. When you hear the voicemail greeting, press the
* (asterisk) sign to interrupt it. Then type your voicemail password.
For visual voicemail, you must use the T-Mobile visual voicemail app.
If you’re using your Android phone with US Cellular, you’re calling from your phone’s phone app
*86or your own 10-digit mobile number. You can also press and hold
1 . Enter your voicemail password when prompted to access your available voice messages.
For Visual Voicemail, you can download and use a free app such as Voxist.
Call voicemail from another phone
Don’t worry if you don’t have access to your own phone. You can use any phone to access your voicemails with different carriers. Here’s how.
Call from your other phone your 10-digit AT&T number. When the voicemail greeting is playing, interrupt it by pressing
* (asterisk) button. When you reach the main voicemail system, enter your 10-digit AT&T phone number and press the
* (asterisk) sign.
If prompted, enter your voicemail password.
Retrieve your Verizon voicemails
To listen to your Verizon voicemails from your other phone, call your 10-digit Verizon phone number. When you hear the voicemail greeting, press
Enter your voicemail password and you will have access to all your voicemails.
Dial your T-Mobile phone number from any phone and let the voicemail greeting play. Then press the
* (asterisk) sign on your keyboard.
Enter your voicemail password and you will be in your voicemail system.
On your other phone, launch the Phone app and dial your 10-digit US cell phone number. When the voicemail greeting plays, press the
* (star key. Then enter your voicemail password and you will be able to access all your received voicemails.
After connecting to your carrier’s voicemail system, use the following shortcuts to quickly save, delete, or redial your voicemail messages.
