Google Introduces Workspaces Spaces Chats Conversation Summaries • TechCrunch

Struggling to keep up with the conversations in your Chats in your Workspace Spaces? Google feels your pain and is “excited to introduce Conversation Summaries in Google Chat for Messages in Spaces.” Now your conversations in Spaces Chats are summarized right in your Premium Workspace.

The problem, of course, is that while Chats in Spaces are perfectly suited for conversations, these Chats conversations in larger Workspaces are hard to keep track of unless you’re always checking your Spaces for new conversations in Chats.

You know it: you log in to your Workspace, click to your Spaces, open the Chats and your conversations are just too numerous and long-winded to keep track of! You’re not very good at telling your Workspace Spaces conversation partners to stop chatting in your Chats. Conversation is why Chats exist, that’s why they call it Spaces! I mean chat!

Fortunately, Google is bringing its expertise in communication apps to remedy this conversational crisis in your Workspace Spaces chats. Soon the messages in your conversations will be summarized in your chats, in Spaces in Workspaces! At least selected Premium Workspaces.

Google puts a summary in your Premium Workspaces Chat conversations.

You read that correctly. The conversation summary of the messages in your Workspaces chat appears at the top of the chats in Spaces, summarizing all unread chatters in the chats conversation. Click on the Spaces chat summary and you’ll jump straight to the conversation, even if it’s already visible and the conversation summary only summarized a few lines of the chats conversation.

If you use Spaces in your Workspace and tend to have conversations in those Spaces’ Chats, Conversation History in Google Chat can be just the thing to keep those talkative Chats summarized. Sadly, however, this doesn’t seem to be available for Google Chat, ie normal Google Chat (that is, the new version in your Gmail that might have been Hangouts), only Google Chat for Spaces in Workspaces, and (don’t forget) select Premium Workspaces. Certainly not Meet messages. So you probably don’t have access. But it could eventually, if Workspace Spaces Chats is still a thing six months from now. (I’m checking this with Google.)
